The first 8th Fire Gathering in Massachusetts was held September 13-14, 2008 at Earthlands, Petersham, MA. The intent was that “Native American elders, sustainability leaders and concerned citizens will spend two days in dialogue, ceremony and celebration with the intention of building a network for sustainable culture in the Northeast – a culture which honors the wisdom and practices of the people who lived here successfully for thousands of years”. Sponsored by Sacred Earth Network.
The second 8th Fire Gathering was held in September, 2009 at Earthlands in Petersham in to continue the work. After this gathering, it was felt that the next gathering needed to be held near the water. After a 2 year search, a new site was located at Camp Collier in Gardner, MA. From the third gathering (May 2012), continuing forward, the gatherings were held here at Camp Collier.
The organizers include past 8th Fire Gathering organizers and participants, not affiliated with any organization.
We give our deepest thanks to the elders who have brought their wisdom and traditional teachings to share with us over the years.
